NO LONGER AVAILABLE Marlin Underlever / Lever Action Rifle in .444 Marlin Calibre. As said, they no longer offer this Great and Classic Calibre as an option. Opting for the Gov. 45/70 instead. A mistake in my opinion but I have zero influence other than to sing the praises of this instead. Other point being if you are already looking at this you already KNOW and agree.
Just about as New Condition with only a couple of the lightest of marks or blemishes. I HAVE seen way worse from peoples gun cabinets. This also looks to have previously been set up for a left handed shot. Looking at the after-market Cocking Spur position but EASILY swapped over for a right hander. As such 100% Ambidextrous and comes as pictured with the XS Extended Picatiny Scope Rail. That itself fitted with a Built In Windage and Height Adjustable Peep Sight.
Not an inexpensive item to buy to begin with.
Barrel length measures 21 ¾” (555mm) and a Stock pull of 13 ¾” (350mm). Together that brings in a total measurement of only 40 ¼” (1025mm). Scales register the weight as pictured WITH Scope Rail at 7 Lbs 13 ¼ oz (3.55 Kg).
Given this can be a ‘bit of a thumper’, just like so many big bore rifles, most tend to see limited use. This is CLEARLY no exception as hardly a single mark to be found anywhere. Even the loading gate is in almost perfect unused condition. Given its also the only loading option with a fixed magazine end cap it confirms all previous comments as 100%. That single piece of EVIDENCE should be enough to accept this has basically fired next to nothing so far.
The last one of these I was lucky enough to get hold of lasted all of 3 weeks from the listing going live. Two of those weeks were because I was actually out of the country. The fella who bought it ringing me on my way to the airport with 8 hours of posting!
Admittedly he did admit he (and the other 13 inquiries) had just read an article extolling the gun and calibre. Its also a good few years ago too. It will be interesting to see how long this stays in the display cabinets.
Not claiming you won’t be able to but they are few and far between and I will almost bet money not in this condition. ALSO PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THIS IS ALSO 100% ORIGINAL SPEC. AND CONDITION.
