IGI DOMINO 12G OVER AND UNDER SHOTGUN.
12G Over and Under, Single Selective Trigger, Boxlock Ejector from IGI Domino. Please see comments at the bottom. This COULD be their ‘Olympic Trap’ model bearing in mind chokes are approx.
The fixed chokes at full and extra full will give an extra tight pattern for those longer shots. Barrels are 29 3/8” (745mm) long with 2 ¾” (70mm) chambers and a ½” (12mm) Fully Ventilated Top rib. Jointing ribs are vented too and everything is finished off with double sighting beads.
A ‘Scallop backed’ action is ALWAYS a nice feature, ESPECIALLY with this PROFUSE English Bouquet Scroll engraving. The third bite cross bolt mechanism is also an immensely strong design. As said, this is a single selective trigger with a small inconspicuous switch over lever mounted within the trigger guard.
Stock length is 14 5/8” (372mm). That is from the inside of the curved recoil butt pad, parallel with the comb. It finishes the gun at an overall length of 47 ¼” (1200mm) and a straight 8 lbs (3.625 Kg). Timber is quite well patterned with a decent colour contrast in the grain.
Overall this gun DOES look pretty good. Especially with the matching vent holes to mimic those in the barrel jointing ribs. You can actually see right through!
‘Fox Cut’ or Skip chequering just completes what is a rather nice gun.
WORRIED ABOUT STEEL SH-T? DO PLEASE READ TO THE BOTTOM:
Back to the Steel SH-T:
THERE ARE more and more None Toxic Shot alternatives being produced. WITH near matching performances to traditional lead and close to, if not matching pressures. Take a look at Horton Gunmakers for their own entry into this debacle of modern day shooting. IF its so lethally deadly to shooters and game eaters how is it every old lead water main supply pipe is not getting ripped out and replaced? To my mind it’s a DISGRACE that the shooting industry did not simply ask that one simple question. NO, they saw an excuse to charge a fortune and that mainly to the detriment of the quarry. Just my opinion …..for what its worth?
Anyway, take a look for yourself:

NOW, to TRY and help speed up availability I WILL also suggest that YOU pass on details to everyone you know who shoots. Then ALL of us start to ask whoever we buy from why they are not DEMANDING cartridges made in this material? Basically VOTE with your WALLET. YES, it will take a little time for everything to filter through but patience IS a virtue. It also allows everyone who wants to keep hold of their ‘old favourite’ for the rest of their lives. Even pass it on to the next generation and hopefully beyond!
On that note I AM looking into the possibility of stocking some direct from Steve at Hortons. RING for an update and keep checking the web site.
Just had an email come through from a Barry T with the following information. AGAIN, MANY THANKS to him for the input.
Hi Robin. These IGI ( Ital Guns International ) guns come from Italy in the ’70s to 80’s. This model being a mid-range Olympic Trap gun originally would have had 3/4 x full. Just 1 of many good gun makers based in Val Trompia in the Italian side of the Alps. In the Bracia region of Northern Italy. Regards Barry
