Original WWI – WWII British Military, SMLE, Short Magazine Lee Enfield .303 Bolt Action Rifle from BSA. 25 1/4″ (640mm) barrel set to a trigger pull of 13 1/2″ (343mm). Overall, the rifle measures to 44 3/4″ (1137mm) and a bare weight of 9 Lbs ½ oz (4.099 Kg). The barrel detailed with ‘Vickers Barrel R942 and Regulated by Fulton’s’. A Crown, 31 and possibly PJ .303 Below so?
Another Very Nice and original example of these ICONIC British Military Service Rifles. The Action band Fully Stamped up with its Crown and GR (for King George), BSA &Co, 1918 and SHt L.E. III*. It is also detailed with ENGLAND to the left side, just below the safety. Barrel also fully stamped with everything in Great Condition. Especially considering its age and history! Even the bayonet Peg has matching serial number.
Many of these rifles are still more than capable of excellent groups still too. The usual problem to better accuracy being their ridiculously basic trigger. No easy swap out but the sear interaction can be worked to give a much cleaner / easier release. I did such to one similar aged rifle many years ago. That went for lucky to land 3 rounds onto an A4 sheet to sub inch. Actually, more like 3/4″ outside to outside! Not claiming this would do the same but, equally, no reason why not.
